Red Alert 2 Patch and Map Editor
June 10th, 2001 (12:00am) - Westwood Studios(tm) today announced that FinalAlert 2, the official map and mission editor for Command & Conquer Red Alert 2(tm), will be available for free download at www.westwood.com after 12 midnight (Pacific Standard Time). This newest utility is both powerful and easy to use, and contains the following features: * Create single-player missions or multi-player maps. * Westwoods "Frame Work Mode" is now embedded into the FA2 code, color coding the terrain based on elevation. * Insert familiar RA2 vehicles, infantry, structures and monuments into the maps. * Easy to use interface complete with tool tips. * Enables players to script AI behavior for single player missions. Westwood has also released their newest patch for Red Alert 2. This eagerly anticipated update enables gamers to play Red Alert 2 without adjusting, resetting or disconnecting their personal firewalls. The upgrade will auto-install after a player starts the game, then logs onto Westwood Online, the free game matchmaking service that supports Red Alert 2. The upgrade will provide the following enhancements: * Will allow Internet multiplay through most personal firewalls. * Will allow map names to appear when using maps created with FinalAlert 2, the official Red Alert 2 map and mission editor. * Will allow players to use maps created with FinalAlert 2 in all game modes. * Supports FinalAlert 2 editor.
