Nintendo Brings in 5 E3 Awards...
June 19th, 2001 (12:00am) - Nintendo was nominated for several different categories at E3awards.com and came out a winner numerous times. The awards are placed in certain categories and are judged by many different people in the media industry that are spread across many platforms, from handheld to pc, from pc to console. Being nominated in a variety of categories Nintendo took the gold in quite a few. Nintendo won the following awards... BEST OF SHOW: nintendo GAMECUBE- obviously, Nintendo had a great showing at E3 with all the new games previewed, and the public gave a tremendous response back. They undoubtedly had the best showing and are sure to continue to do so.
BEST CONSOLE HARDWARE: Nintendo GAMECUBE- this was a no-brainer, compared to the showing of both Nintendos rivals, they surely had the best showing and showed off spectacular ending results made from the hardware. BEST ACTION GAME: Star Wars Rogue Leader: Rogue Squadron 2- This may be from the same old Star Wars Universe thats been driven into the ground a million times but this game truly shows the power that the NGC can handle, closely resembling the look of the movie itself in some aspects. Staw Wars RL also was the runner-up for BEST CONSOLE GAME, stolen by Metal Gear Solid: SOL. BEST FIGHTING GAME: Super Smash Bros. Melee- Nintendo sures know how to deliver on four player fun and with this games new highly detailed characters and brand new 3D worlds this title is going to be just as addictive as the first was. BEST PUZZLE/TRIVIA/PARLOR GAME: Pikmin- This was destined to have many reactions come E3 as the look and style of gameplay is one of the most original Ive seen in awhile. Looking at the title the first word that comes to mind is "kiddy" and I must agree it does. Getting ant-like creatures to help you in an abundance of ways after you crash land on a strange planet is both inventive and intriguing. Though Pikmin was also nominated for BEST ORIGINAL GAME, a PC game stole it right out from under Nintendos feet, putting Pikmin in a close second. Out of a total of 17 awards Nintendo took home 5 awards which goes to show Nintendo definitely has what it takes to bring in the victory in whats going to be a harsh console race to dominate the industry. Of course, Nintendo believes they are separate from their competition, but we all know that even though their objective is somewhat different the race to finish will come up between them and Sony. |Eagle| Reported by Talon Ireland on June 19th, 2001 (12:00am)
