Metal Gear not to see GCN...

June 21st, 2001 (12:00am) - This is one of the worst pieces of news that a GameCube fan could ever hope to get. If any have ever played Metal Gear Solid for the Playstation, then they were definitely looking forward to seeing a sequel on GameCube, now that the hardware has changed. However, this is very unlikely. In Electronic Gaming Monthly, there was a quote from Hideo Kojima, creator of the MGS game, about GameCube and his plans for it in their special feature. The quote read... "When I pick hardware to do a game, I don’t look at the specs of the machine. I don’t really care about that stuff. I don’t care about how good the system is, because all consoles right now are at about the same level of power. I look at the audience that it has. Releasing a Metal Gear game on a Nintendo console would be ridiculous. I dn’t know about GameCube, but [their] machines [until now] have been for younger kids."

"Ridiculous..." That pretty much destroyed any and all hope that a Metal Gear game will ever see the light of day on a Nintendo console, hopefully, Hideo Kojima will realize that the system is trying to mature, aiming at a wider range of people. Metal Gear would definitely change the audience of GameCube, and may draw in more developers. But of coure, Kojima will have to first see this change, which can’t happen until a year or so after the GCN is released. Only time will tell... |Eagle|
