November 30th, 2001 (12:00am) - Yes, I know this isnt gaming related, but I know that the @home service has a broad member list, so I felt this is important, and that people, who may not be aware of this, should be. The below is from the IndyStar.com (link below): SAN FRANCISCO - A judge cleared the way for bankrupt Excite@Home to turn off its high-speed Internet cable network as early as tonight, potentially affecting about 4 million subscribers around the country. The cable companies that connect their customers to the @Home network said they plan to appeal the decision to U.S. District Court in San Francisco as soon as possible. Bankruptcy Judge Thomas Carlson said Excite@Home could dissolve its contracts with the cable companies as early as midnight Friday PST. Carlson concluded the contracts had become .clearly burdensome. to the company. Under the contracts, executives said Excite@Home was losing up to $6 million a week. In central Indiana, Comcast and Insight provide Excite@Home high-speed service. Reported by Kyle Johnson on November 30th, 2001 (12:00am) [From: The IndyStar.com]
