Shigeru Miyamoto and Satoru Iwata to Participate in 2002 Event
Nintendo of America today announced Shigeru Miyamoto and Satoru Iwata, two of the key creative forces behind the best-selling new video game console, NINTENDO GAMECUBE(TM), will participate in the 2002 D.I.C.E. Summit (Design, Innovate, Create, and Entertain), the first annual design summit for the interactive and game industry professional.
Hosted by The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences (AIAS), the D.I.C.E. Summit will be held Feb. 28 - March 1, 2002, at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. The summit features two days of seminars by some of the most celebrated and creative minds in the interactive industry. In addition, the 5th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards will take place the evening of Feb. 28th at the Hard Rock Hotel.
This marks the first time AIAS Hall of Fame honoree Miyamoto will address an audience since the Nov. 18th North American launch of NINTENDO GAMECUBE. He and Iwata will join a host of renowned speakers and personalities drawn from related entertainment and technology fields, representing all aspects of the interactive entertainment industry.
As a Director and General Manager of the Corporate Planning Division of Nintendo Co., Ltd. in Kyoto, Japan, Satoru Iwata is responsible for Nintendos global corporate planning. Prior to joining Nintendo in 2000, Iwata worked for Hal Laboratory, Inc., becoming company president in 1993, where he coordinated software development and production of several Nintendo games, including the Kirby series.
Shigeru Miyamoto is general manager of the entertainment analysis and development division and a director for Nintendo Co., Ltd. As the award-winning creator of Mario(TM), Donkey Kong(R), Zelda(TM), and many others, he serves as the creative force behind the worlds most popular and enduring video games for all Nintendo video game systems, including NINTENDO GAMECUBE and Game Boy(R) Advance. In 1998, he was honored as the first inductee into the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences Hall of Fame. He is currently working on the highly anticipated Mario Sunshine and The Legend of Zelda, both scheduled to launch in 2002 for NINTENDO GAMECUBE.
