February 27th, 2002 (12:00am) - 11:57pm 02/26/02

Sega has issued a warning for their Dreamcast console in Japan. Specifically, consumers are cautioned against buying refurbished Dreamcast consoles through some retail chains. According to Sega representatives, some Japanese stores have imported Dreamcast parts and converted consoles from other territories to work in Japan. Due to voltage differences between the regions however, consoles maybe susceptible to fire. Moreover, converted consoles are unable to access Dreamcast online services such as Isao.net in Japan. To ensure players are purchasing legitimate Dreamcast goods, Sega has advised all customers to check the underside of their consoles for Japanese territory and serial number information
