Nintendo wins marketing award....
March 23rd, 2002 (12:00am) - Nintendo of America was awarded the 2002 Gold Reggie for Event Marketing for “The Nintendo Cube Clubs.” Presented by the Promotion Marketing Association (PMA), the leading nonprofit trade association representing the multi-billion dollar promotion marketing industry, the Gold Reggie is bestowed upon companies that not only demonstrate innovative ideas and concepts, but also show that their respective promotions were successful in driving sales. The promotion also won a Bronze Reggie for National Consumer Promotion - budget between $1 million and $5 million.
Part of a $75 million marketing campaign for Nintendo’s all-new video game console, NINTENDO GAMECUBETM, Nintendo transformed loft areas and vacant retail space into Cube Clubs in 12 cities across the United States during the Fall of 2001. Each featured DJ’d music via surround audio systems, special club lighting and hands-on game play. Nintendo launched Nintendo GameCube on November 18, 2001, and virtually sold out its entire shipment during the critical holiday shopping period. My thoughts: This is kind of funny is you ask me ... especially since many believe that Nintendo doesnt advertise their products too well. I never attended a Cube Club even when I had the chance to but from what I hear it sounds that all gamers that attended them were pleased. At the current time Cube Clubs are getting read to take over Europe and hopefully after E3 theyll take another trip accross the states. I must play Metroid Prime!!!
