Videogame Disease

March 27th, 2002 (12:00am) - According to a study conducted by the Japanese School of Health, videogame playing sessions lasting more than one hour can lead to a medical disorder. Reportedly, players can become lightheaded and even faint when trying to resume normal activity after playing. Participants in the study were representative of the Japanese population, with varying ages, cities of origin, sleeping habits, and educational backgrounds. Data released from the study reports 30 percent of female high-school students reported the lightheaded condition after playing videogames for more than an hour. According to Professor Seiji Osawa, the problem is a result of blood pressure fluctuations due to prolonged periods of playing.
