GBA Plus?
March 10th, 2002 (12:00am) - People have been speculating for months that Nintedo will release a new Gameboy Advance that will include a front light. Of course Nintendo has not commented on these and not many people take the rumours seriously, but recently Japanese magazines have been reporting on this. Heres my view on why this is a very good possibility of it happening: a) the recent price drop to $109 Canadian, will give Nintendo a chance to introduce the new system without really raising the price. If it does come, they will probably sell it at the old price of $150. b)Many games which were scheduled for release have been pushed back, possibly to coincide with the possible release of a new system. c)Nintendo isnt commenting on the situation. They said they wanted to sell 23 million GBAs by March. If they were to release a new system it obviously wouldnt be announced until AFTER this, otherwise it would scare potentional buyers into waiting for the new system and causing a drop in sales. d)portablemonopoly.com are currently developing their own frontlit kit, and have been for some time. The kits will sell for around $30 US and will require buyers to open up their GBAs and install the system themselves. Of course Nintendo wont like the idea of people making money off them without a license or anything, so to combat that they simply release their own frontlit system which doesnt require users to modify their GBAs and void their warranty.
While these are just rumours and speculation, we here at GamersMark believe it a good possibility that Nintedo will be anouncing a front lit system in the next few months. Of course if they do announce it, you can bet that it will be released in Japan first, it will also give them a reason to release new colors.
