Rage enters into developer agreement

April 8th, 2002 (12:00am) - Ports of upcoming Rage games are farmed out to independent developers.

Rage Software has announced that it has reached an agreement with three independent developers to help the company develop ports of its upcoming games for other systems. The first agreement is with Steel Monkeys, which will port Rage’s upcoming Rocky game to the GameCube. Meanwhile, a developer named Virtuacraft will handle a port of Rocky to the Game Boy Advance. All versions of the Rocky game are scheduled for release in late 2002. The last agreement is with Fluid Studios, which will develop a version of Rage’s inline skating game Rolling for the Game Boy Advance. The GBA version of Rolling is scheduled to ship in early 2003.
"We are delighted to have entered into agreements with three of the UK’s leading independent developers as part of our ongoing commitment to widen our catalogue with exciting and original titles," said Feargus Carroll, head of third-party development at Rage. "We believe that each of these individual titles will help Rage expand its overall publishing business and we are continuing to seek out additional high-quality titles to publish."

The PlayStation 2 version of Rolling is scheduled for release in late 2002 and will be followed by the GameCube and Xbox versions in early 2003.
