Video Game Sales Raise Disc Production
April 16th, 2002 (12:00am) - According to a recent report from Cambridge Associates that was presented to the International Recording Media Association an increasing demand for console videogames has helped businesses that focus on disc replication in sales. In the report that was originally seen in Video Store Magazine it has been found that a total of 140.02 million discs were created for all three next generation consoles. That number works out to 128 million for PlayStation 2, 7.2 million for Xbox and 5 million for GameCube. The report went on to state that 60 percent of Americans play videogames, and out of that 60 percent, 46 percent of American households have at least one console. Furthermore, it was said that when the age demographics were put to the test that the average age of most gamers is 28. Also, an unbelievable 43 percent of gamers are female. And finally, 42 percent of the most frequent console gamers are under the age of 18 and only 37 percent of console gamers are between the ages of 18 and 35.
