Famitsu Reviews Halo
April 17th, 2002 (12:00am) - Here is the review, translated in English:
Sakai - 9 The ultimate FPS. All you do is basically search out, and kill enemies. But the graphics are so realistic that you get sucked in easily. I was worried about the controls but they are no problem. The difficulty is also decreased from the US version. PC gamers should also definitely buy this!! Kisshi - 8 The visuals, presentation, and drama are all magnificent. The movements are very smooth. The controls are very complicated but not too difficult, and its basically a game without faults. However, there basically isnt a map to go by so people without good sense of direction might not be able to find their way around. Sugenoya - 7 There is great intensity, with invisible enemies opening fire, and suddenly appearing in front of your eyes. But, it takes time getting used to the strange way of using the right and left sticks. I had some troubles lining up targets because of that. Theres no map display, so I got lost easily. Haneda - 9 Ive played these types of shooting games before, but for those players who havent playing PC games they will probably be wowed. There is loading in the middle of levels, but only for a few seconds. Its hard to play multiplayer unless you have the right setup, but I think single player is more fun. I wish you were able to spin around faster.
Im sure Halo fans in other regions may contest to some of the things said, but a 33/40 isnt half bad, considering how notoriously ill-recieved First Person Shooters often are in Japan. Reported by Michael Robinson on April 17th, 2002 (12:00am)
