Xbox Price Cut in Europe

April 17th, 2002 (12:00am) - It has been announced on the German website Handleblatt that the Xbox will be reduced to 299 Euros from the original 479 Euros on April 26 for every European territory, and that pre-price cut Xbox owners with a receipt can get any two Xbox games and a controller for free.

This move also comes after THQ Chief Executive Brian Farrell urged Microsoft to lower the price of the Xbox in Europe and Japan, showing that some developers are also worried of the Xbox’s future in non-North American territories.

A price drop in Japan has not been confirmed, nor talked about, though, but if the sales begin to drag even further, even after more Japanese-oriented Xbox titles are released, a price cut should be expected.
