North American hardware sales...(March 31-April 6)

April 17th, 2002 (12:00am) - The most recent hardware sales are in courtesy of CSFB Weekly report.

The top seller in the first week of April was Nintendo’s GameBoy Advance which managed to sell 73,000 units, a decline from the 116,000 sold the week before. In second was Sony’s unstopable gaming machine the PS2 which also saw a decline selling to 57,000 units from 65,000 the week prior. In third for the second week in a row comes the Nintendo GameCube in which Nintendo sold 30,000 GameCube units in the week reported, down from 32,000 last . Finally the Xbox comes in last selling 24,000 Xbox units, down from 28,000 last week.

All sales took a dive in the first week of April and it’s somewhat depressing to witness the facts...

In the report, CSFB offered recalculated estimates of North American console installed base. Based on data provided by NPD Funworld, CSFB projects GameCube’s installed base at 1,519,000 units, Game Boy Advance at 6,003,000, PlayStation 2 at 8,379,000, and Xbox at 1,819,000.
