More Gaming Sites Charging...
April 28th, 2002 (12:00am) - As the Internet evolves and the demand for advanced communication in an over-communicated world climbs, many web sites devoted to videogame content have been forced to put their foot down. The cost to "give" groundbreaking content away for free has proved to be too costly for almost all major gaming sites. Gamerweb was one of the first to bite the bullet so to speak, charging $19.95 for year long access into areas of the site that hold movies and other exclusives. Then goodol IGN followed suit by creating IGNinsider, a monthly service with a fee that gives you access to breaking stories with pics and movies. They are charging $4.95 a month. And now... Gamespot or Videogames.com has bowed their heads to the monthly fee gods, also asking for $4.95 a month to access Gamespot Complete. While all three sites are very good at what they do, is this necessary? We at GamersMark will not charge for our news, well just keep it free, and reliable. Stick with us.
