Squaresofts new goals and focuses...
April 30th, 2002 (12:00am) - In an article by MSN Money and Multex Investor Japan, a number of points from Squares investors meeting in April 5th are outlined. The points reported goes as follows. 1- Under the leadership of the new company president Yoichi Wada, Square will focus on their main business of video games from now on. Unlike in the past year, funds will not be dispersed to other fields outside of games. 2- Hit products such as Chrono Trigger, FF Tactics, Seiken Densetsu and Parasite Eve, will be reproduced. 3- No major projects will take place, other than the Final Fantasy series. Even the FF series will be expanded by spin-offs such as sub-series focused on certain characters in the game(s), starting from Final Fantasy 12. 4- This fiscal year will be a preparation period for the next year, used to change the production line and other factors. Square aims to profit 4 - 6 billion Yen in stand-alone games and 1 - 3 billion Yen in online games by the end of the next fiscal year. My thoughts: What?! Everything will be based off the Final Fantasy series now!!!??? Well, that kinda blows because we might not see a new Chrono game or Vagrant story and that just sucks!! Something is going on at Squaresoft... Reported by Elias Dounis on April 30th, 2002 (12:00am)
