SoundMax at E3

May 6th, 2002 (12:00am) - Teams with Industry Leaders to Bring "Animated Audio" to Gamers; Audio Rendering Software Eliminates Need for a Soundcard

NORWOOD, Mass., May 6, 2002 -- Analog Devices, Inc.demonstrates the future of game audio at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), May 22-24 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. For the first time, E3’s attendees will experience the leap in audio performance that the SoundMAX family of products deliver. The company will showcase its impressive roster of
SoundMAX SPX-powered games from the industry’s top players, its new SMartTools developer toolkit and SoundMAX Cadenza Digital Audio System, the latest addition to the product line. Analog Devices will be in Concourse MR 153A, on the 2nd floor of the main hall.

"E3 gives us a perfect opportunity to demonstrate our technology and educate the industry about a key component of gaming that is too often overlooked - the audio," said Beth Doherty, director of business development, Analog Devices, Inc. "Our diversity of audio technologies, along with a
multi-platform line-up of SoundMAX SPX games, clearly demonstrates that SPX technology is well on its way to becoming the industry standard for gaming audio."

At this year’s conference, Analog Devices will showcase:
- Games Coded with SoundMAX SPX "Animated Audio" - Analog Devices will be demonstrating games that feature SoundMAX SPX including Test Drive for PS2 and Xbox (Infogrames), Diehard: Nakatomi Plaza for PC (FOX/Sierra), MotoRacer 3 for PC (Infogrames), Kinetica for PS2 (Sony Computer Entertainment), and Enigma: Rising Tide for PC (Tesseration).

- SoundMAX Audio Rendering Technology Toolkit (SMartTools) –SmartTools allows sound designers and audio programmers to create SoundMAX SPX "Animated Audio" -- hyper-realistic audio effects that are not simply played back repeatedly, but change constantly based on the real-time events of the game. By focusing on sound algorithms instead of samples and loops,
SMartTools helps PC, Xbox and PS2 audio engineers keep up with the rapid technological advancements of video game graphics.

- SoundMAX Cadenza - The SoundMAX Digital Audio system allows for intense high-quality PC audio without the need for a soundcard. Fully pre-loaded and integrated into the motherboard, SoundMAX is a high performance solution that supports all major game audio technologies (DirectSound3D, EAX, A3D, etc), as well as its own innovative SoundMAX SPX Audio Rendering Technology. SoundMAX Cadenza, the latest addition to this product line, adds input
features for support of voice-over-IP communications ("net meetings"), voice command and control, and speech recognition/dictation. It is also equipped with a state-of-the-art MIDI music synthesizer.
