Xbox Price Cut Announcement at E3?
May 10th, 2002 (12:00am) - Analysts say that it is possible that a US price-drop for the Xbox can be expected, and soon; As early as E3, Microsoft may announce the Xbox price being lowered to as low as $199 USD.
A recent Wal-Mart ad that has been making rounds on the net has shown that some retailers are already lowering the price to help the Xbox sell during the usually slow Spring/Summer gaming seasons. Slowing sales (even in the US), the heavy, ostentatious advertising, pressure from some retailers, and the uplift of sales in Euro/Aus/UK markets due to a pricedrop are fueling the speculation to the point where some people will be surprised if Microsoft *doesnt* lower the Xboxs price after E3 2002. A price drop, though seeming a bit desperate, would definately highten North American sales. Now lets just hope us North American gamers who already spent $300 on an Xbox get the "two games and free controller" deal foreign markets recieved...
