Savage announced for PC
May 16th, 2002 (12:00am) - May 16, 2002 - Publisher and game site iGamesT along with developer S2 GamesT today announced its first multiplayer game for the PC, "Savage." Set in a primal fantasy world torn apart by two power-hungry factions, Man and Beast, the game combines the best elements of real-time strategy (RTS) with intense first person combat. With a fantastic storyline and the capacity to engage 64 players at a time, "Savage" provides gamers with the most realistic fantasy battle experience to date. Savage is scheduled to ship in the first quarter of 2003. Savage will be shown at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Kentia Hall, booth number 7336.
"Savage places gamers in an intense battle scenario and equips them with powerful weapons and abilities," said Jesse Hayes, creative director of Savage and chief operating officer for S2 Games. "We think this is the future of multiplayer gaming. Savage is the best of both worlds, RTS players strategize while first person combat fans fight up close and personal." Savage Gameplay Built with the new "SilverbackT" development engine, "Savage" delivers the next level in multiplayer gaming. Instead of sending mindless computer drones into battle, players organize real human players on a crusade to conquer their adversaries. A player may choose to be a commander, and play an in-depth RTS game, researching technologies, mining resources, and issuing orders to their warriors. If a player chooses to be a warrior, they will play an intense game of first person combat, wielding their weapon of choice to strike down the enemy. Savage is designed so that neither RTS nor Action based play are watered down in any way. RTS fans will have all the control they are used to such as tech tree, resource management and tactical strategy. In turn, the action-based players will play an in-depth fighting game with a heavy emphasis on battle dynamics. Although the two sides work together their roles are very distinct. Myth of Savage In a primal and violent time, eons from now, nomad humans roam the earth, inflicting cruelty on the beasts and creatures of the world. The human race is wasteful and selfish, while those closest to nature, the beast race, learn from human failings evolving and growing stronger with the passing of time. A daily struggle ensues, man against beast, for the very basic natural resources that nurture life. Each race has its own style of battle, its own leader, and its own way to victory.
