E3 2002: Donkey Kong Plus announced for the GCN/GBA!!!
May 21st, 2002 (12:00am) - Nintendo is really serious about this communication aspect between the GCN, TriForce, and GBA and at E3 a key aspect of Nintendos Press Conference was about communication. Well, thanks to communication one of the most addicting games of all time gets a revival on both the Nintendo GameCube and the Game Boy Advance, Donkey Kong!!! Wait, a second but only a GBA version exists or does it ? Read on to find out... Donkey Kong Plus will feature all the original stages as well as 100 new stages of barrel hopping madness. Along with new stages Mario has a new array of moves he can perform. He can now double-jump, do backflips and handstands, and even catch barrels with his feet, which could lead to interesting gameplay possibilities. There are also DK-themed minigames planned for the cartridge. DK+ will also support the GC-GBA link cable, using a custom level editor, which can be linked up to the GameCube to edit on a TV screen. There, your GBA levels can be stored in the GameCube memory card, or sent back down to the GBA and be saved there. However, there is no information as to how this could be achieved without a DK console game, unless the GC-GCN link cable can be used without a game in the GameCube. Donkey Kong Plus is set for a Q1 2003 release.
