The Official Xbox Magazine comments on the Nintendo/Rare "situation"...
June 9th, 2002 (12:00am) - This has been a topic of controversy for months now , thanks to the editors at IGN. Months ago they started a rumor which they stated that Nintendos second party Rare would go back to they way they once were, as a third party. Well, we all now that IGNcube has been wrong about many things in the past (according to them at one point Metroid Prime and Retro were in horrible shape, we know how that turned out didnt we?) so I found these rumors hard to swallow. In the most recent issue of the Official Xbox magazine one of the writers commented on this situation... Heres the excerpt: Were keeping our fingers crossed for Perfect Dark Zero- Ne were not the ones to go around spreading rumors, but weve heard one too many whispers from our industry pals to let this hot nibble pass. It seems that Rare, the storied developers on Donkey Kong Country, GoldenEye, Did Kongs Racing, Banjo-Kazooie, is expanfing its operations to create games for the Xbox. Some sources close to the developer even say that Rare has had the Xbox development kits for several months now and is already hard at work. Xbox owners should be happy because it means well be getting great new games, and we could be getting them soon. YOu can forget any titles that feture Donkey Kong, Star Fox, or other Nintendo characters, but Perfect Dark, Banjo Kazooie, and other Rare-owned franchises could easily make the jump My thoughts: Maybe these "journalists" shouldve done more of their homework because Banjo-Kazooie is a Nintendo owned franchise.
