July 11^th, 2002 (12:00am) - Tecmo was able to sell over a million units of Dead or Alive 3 making it the second Xbox game to reach a million. So, with that said, its not really a stretch to say Tecmo’s doing alright with Xbox. This morning, on the heels of our report yesterday evening concerning Dead or Alive 4, comes word that the company plans to raise the share of their overseas sales to 60 percent, sales that are currently at 50 percent.

According to Reuters, Tecmo was able to pull in a group net profit of 1.2 billion yen ($10.16 million USD) on 11 billion yen in sales during the last fiscal year ended March 31st due to strong sales of Dead or Alive 3. Furthermore, Tecmo stated that sales of videogames during the last fiscal year were at 3.8 billion yen from figures of 1.8 billion last year last year.

Looking towards the future and discussing other such issues, Tecmo’s president Junji Nakamura stated that the U.S. arm of Tecmo could become far more independent (something that’s been speculated for quite awhile) and that almost half of their sales come from markets outside of Japan. He added that while the U.S. market would become Tecmo’s key area, Europe still needed a bit of work due to marketing strategies.

Tecmo concluded their report by stating that they’re expecting to post a group net profit of 1.47 billion yen on 12.4 billion yen in sales for the fiscal year ended March 31st 2003.
