RareWare Moves On.......

September 12th, 2002 (12:00am) - Ok with all the rumors on Microsoft or Activision and others buying UK based development house Rare. This morning I woke up to find an e-mail from a friend at Rare(Joseph Wybraniec) confirming all the rumors. Rare ltd was in fact brought out by the master of the Windows Microsoft. The deal is kinda sour becuse of the fact that some Rare employees does not like the change. And will continue to work with other Nintendo development teams(including Retro Studios). And also finding places with others like Activison, EA, and even Capcom. Oh yeah if you’re asking if this is all set in stone why all the secrets??? All of this was being kept on the low becuse every thing is not worked out yet. Rare & Microsoft is trying to purchase the names of games it worked on under Nintendo. So before you go yelling Perfect Dark & Conker for the Xbox. Remember it’s all up to Nintendo sell the rights to these games or keep them for themselves(I say give them up Nintendo). I was also told Nintendo was payed about triple of what Rare is worth by Microsoft. And Big N will be using the money to get better 3rd party support from guys like Square, Namco, Capcom, Konami, & Sega(ummm there is some ol’ rumor about Nintendo buying Sega???).

My Thoughts
I think this is a good & bad move for Rare. The good being the fact they have tons more money to back their projects and a whole lot of other resources. The bad being that Nintendo is known to be the only publishers to tolerate long 1st & 2nd party development time. And we all know how long Rare takes to make games. My only questions is this. What’s the fate of Kameo: Elements of Power???? Will it some how still come to Cube??? Will the development be finished for the Xbox??? I could care less if it were put on Atari XE just please Rare finish this game!!!!!

Oh yeah remember you heard this news here first GamersMark.com
