MegaMan Comes To The Cube!!!
September 17th, 2002 (12:00am) - "Those kind folks over at the Megaman Outpost have gotten their hands on some scans out of the newest issue of Famitsu, and they contain the first shots of Rockman EXE Transmission on the GameCube.
The Rockman EXE series, so far, has only seen games on the Gameboy Advance. They were released in America under the Megaman Battle Network series, and combine RPG elements with classic MM franchise characters. The ingenuitive battle system, heavy customization, and attractive presentation have managed to make MMBN and its sequel fan favorites among GBA software. The GameCube version, while obviously upgraded for the next-generation console, looks to follow the example of its predecessors. Graphics will be a mix of 2D, side-scrolling sections and 3D, cel-shaded battles. The two-dimensional levels, which presumably take place in the Net, look very similar to Megaman and Megaman X games, though theyre much more wide open. Its unknown how much control the player will have over characters in battle, but the visuals do look impressive. It should be great to see some classic MM bosses in 3D, finally. Rockman EXE Transmission currently has no release date, but you can bet well be following this one closely. There hasnt been an announcement whether it will be compatible with the GBA game, Rockman EXE 3, either, but well keep our eyes on it. More information about both games should come out of the Tokyo Game Show in a few days, so check back soon.
