Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance Heads To GameCube!!!

September 19th, 2002 (12:00am) - Black Isle Studios, the award-winning RPG (roleplaying game) division of Interplay Entertainment Corp., and leading console game developer High Voltage Studios today announced their plan to bring the Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance franchise to the Nintendo GameCube video game system.

The PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system version of Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance, developed by Snowblind Studios, has sold over 500,000 copies worldwide. Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance features a distinctive blend of action and adventure set in the most popular Dungeons & Dragons campaign setting: The FORGOTTEN REALMS franchise owned by Wizards of the Coast Inc., a subsidiary of Hasbro Inc., and licensed to Infogrames Interactive, Inc. Faithful adaptation of the third edition rules set for the Dungeons & Dragons roleplaying game and customizable player and character development allow for an engrossing gameplay experience new to the Nintendo GameCube audience. Dramatic spell effects and powerful abilities enhance this action-packed game, assisting the player in combat against an abundance of terrifying monsters found throughout the adventure. Played from a third person perspective, Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance immerses players in the port town of Baldur’s Gate.

Darkness has fallen upon the town and rumors of a Thieves’ Guild civil war brew beneath the streets of the city. Entering this desperate situation, new to the world of adventuring, the player soon learns that they stand in the way of one of the greatest threats ever to strike the town of Baldur’s Gate and the entire region of The Sword Coast. Black Isle Studios, the creators of the Fallout series, Planescape: Torment and the Icewind Dale saga, is proud to bring Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance to Nintendo GameCube.
