Enix and Square to merge!? {Updated: Its confirmed!}
November 26th, 2002 (12:00am) - Many sources are running amok reporting that tomorrow the two Japanese RPG giants Square and Enix will hold a press conference to announce a merger between the two companies. If this were to happen it could possibly be one of the largest shockers in videogame history as well as a match made in heaven. Both companies are known for developing some of the greatest RPG titles in history, Squaresoft with their Final Fantasy series and Enix with Dragon Quest. According to these sources the merger will become official on April 1st 2003, which happens to be the first day of the new fiscal year as well as April Fools Day. Check back tomorrow to see if any truth will come out of this breaking news... Update: According to Nikkei Japan, on the start of the fiscal year, April 1st, 2003 Square and Enix will merge to form Square Enix. And according to the report games like Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest will still be intact in the merger.
