GameCube Pokemon scheduled for the summer of 2003!

January 3rd, 2003 (12:00am) - The new January 3rd Nihon Keizai Shimbun Japanese morning paper has revealed details for the GameCube Pokemon. Since, we cannot speak or read Japanese here at GamersMark we’ve tried to interpret this article after reading and Babelfished translation of the article.

“By the time of summer 2003, Nintendo will release their newest Pokemon game, but this time in the home console market for the Nintendo GameCube. Pokemon for the GameCube will heavily utilize the connection features between the Game Boy Advance and GameCube. This will be a huge strategy that will definitely help sell more Nintendo GameCube consoles. In order to enjoy the game both pieces of Hardware are needed (GameCube and Game Boy Advance) and by the time Pokemon GameCube is released both the Game Boy Advance and Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire will be reduced in price.”

Well that’s the best I can do folks. From what is there it seems that the GBA and the new Pokemon games are required to play the GameCube Pokemon. I honestly doubt that Nintendo will ever do such a thing, requiring someone to have an add on to play a game is somewhat tyrannical, but the truth is that Pokemon is a franchise that would definitely make this strategy work.

No real gameplay details are known. Nintendo has said in the past that the next home console Pokemon game would not be a sequel to the Pokemon Stadium games, so I guess that some useful info.

Stay Tuned…
