THQ makes it official, Red Faction II to the GameCube, Xbox, PC…
January 13th, 2003 (12:00am) - Third party publisher THQ announced today that their critically acclaimed FPS Red Faction II will be going to the Nintendo GameCube, Xbox, and PC this March. "We are very pleased to be bringing an original, internally developed brand like Red Faction II to GameCube, Xbox and PC," said Alison Locke, executive vice president, North American publishing, THQ. "In addition to groundbreaking Geo-Mod technology, Red Faction II offers gamers a complete entertainment experience with new enhancements and improvements that take advantage of each systems respective hardware." The GameCube version of Red Faction II is being developed exclusively by Cranky Pants games, the Cube version will feature improved texture resolution, character models and enhanced lighting effects specific to the GameCube. The Xbox and PC version are being developed by THQ’s Outrage Games studio, and will feature increased texture resolution and exclusive multiplayer maps. My Thoughts:I ‘m surprised to hear about the Xbox and PC versions of Red Faction II. We already knew about the enhanced GameCube port being headed up by Cranky Pants Games but the other two were a surprise. The GameCube version is getting the biggest overhaul of them all and I would expect that version to look and play best since Cranky Pants Games is a much more talented studio than THQ’s internal studio Outrage Games.
