Peter Moore goes to the Dark Side…
January 21st, 2003 (12:00am) - Just a few days ago GamerMark.com informed readers that Peter Moore had resigned from his position at Sega of America. People were speculating a number of possible outcomes, the one that was thrown around as a joke, in the end, happened to be true outcome. Peter Moore, Sega’s former president and chief operating officer, has jumped ship to Microsoft. At his new position with Microsoft as vice president of retail sales and marketing, Moore will watch over retail and business in the Home and Entertainment division (a.k.a the Xbox) in Europe and Japan. “I am excited to be joining Microsoft at a time when the company’s drive toward innovation and creativity is at the forefront of its retail and in-home strategy,” Moore said. “ In particular, I look forward to applying my combined experience in global consumer sales and marketing and the interactive entertainment industry to enhance the global reach of the Xbox product line.” My Thoughts:Moore is partially responsible for my hatred towards Sega’s business practices. I predict that he drives the Xbox into the ground. Who’s Next? Hiroshi Yamauchi!? Sorry, but this isn’t right…
