Square to begin FFXI beta testing in North America

February 17th, 2003 (12:00am) - After months of speculation about permanent delays and cancellations, Squaresoft has finally given gamers outside of Japan good news regarding FFXI here in the states. The game is running in English, near completion and is set to begin beta testing here in the US, using different types of internet connections as well as PS2 models for compatibility.

They did not say, however, if they had any time frame regarding the games release or the release date of the PS2’s hard drive, which will likely be essential to playing the game.

Expect more coverage on this killer app title in the future, and check out Sony’s Everquest Online Adventues, out now, if you can’t wait to get some online RPG action.
