Xbox Out Sells GameCube In Japan
February 18th, 2003 (12:00am) - On the strength of sales of Dead or alive extreme beach volleyball, Microsofts Xbox out sold Nintendos Gamecube, 8,862 to 8,177. Many developers are pulling their support away from the GameCube. Although few announcements have been made, many titles are missing from key developers websites.
"Codemasters can confirm that there are no GameCube editions of current titles in development. However, Codemasters constantly reviews the opportunity and viability of developing and publishing GameCube editions of any console title planned." Sega recently canned all sports games and, although not confirmed,it is rumoured that EA is looking to downsize their GameCube catalogue. With several highly anticipated titles coming to xbox over the next several weeks, things are looking good for Microsoft to increase its market share in Japan.
