THQ unveils Sphinx…

February 19th, 2003 (12:00am) - THQ has unveiled their newest game, Sphinx for the Nintendo GameCube and Playstation 2. Developed by Eurocom, the guys behind EA’s James Bond and Harry Potter games, Sphinx is an original interactive adventure game, which, according to THQ, will bring the character-based, action-adventure genre to new heights. The game itself is set in an entirely original universe based on ancient Egypt, and its civilizations. In Sphinx players will embark exploring new worlds, uncovering dark secrets, interacting with hundreds of fantastic creatures, and discovering new abilities, with gameplay and a storyline which promises to be deep, action packed, and compelling.

"It is THQ’s goal to partner with the top creative talent in the interactive entertainment industry and the team at Eurocom is exactly that," said Alison Locke, executive vice president, North American publishing, THQ. "Sphinx has the potential to be something very special. With its incredible visual style and unsurpassed gameplay, we feel that Sphinx could be one of the defining games for this generation of consoles and beyond."

"Eurocom have been privileged to work with many of the richest characters and worlds in the entertainment industry. We are thrilled to partner with publishing powerhouse THQ and use our experience to create our own successful entertainment franchise," said Mat Sneap, Company Director, Eurocom. "Sphinx will engage players with rich and compelling gameplay, and our proprietary animation system brings a level of expressivity to the characters and worlds not seen before in an interactive experience."

Sphinx is scheduled to ship this Fall.
