Sonic returns to the anime scene…
February 22nd, 2003 (12:00am) - Many years ago, I would wake up every morning before school, turn on the TV and from there watch my favorite cartoon show at the time, Sonic the Hedgehog. I wasn’t even a Sega fan at the time, but the show was pretty damn good, good enough for me to watch it every morning. When the series ended I was a bit bummed, but luckily a year or two later another Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon made it on to US airwaves, and this time it seemed as if the show had taken a more serious turn, based in a almost post apocalyptic world, which the power of the Gold Rings is something coveted by many. Well, old school cartoons have been making a comeback, and Sonic is making his return with an anime series called Sonic X. Sonic X, will debut on Japanese airwaves April 6th, and at the current time is not scheduled for a North American conversion, but seeing how the Kirby series, and Hamtaro made it over here…Why the hell not Sonic? Sonic X is based on Sonic’s latest adventures, and that means he’s accompanied by the loveable (or irritable) characters we’ve come across in the past years, such as Amy, Knuckles, and Cream from Sonic Advance 2. The villains in the anime will, obviously, be Dr. Robotnik (Eggman if you will), Rouge, and the ultra cool, Shadow. Sonic X, unlike the previous Sonic animes, introduces Chris, a human boy who joins Sonic’s cause against Dr. Robotnik. Now, hopefully this series won’t suck.
