Treasure just might become a Nintendo second party…
March 5th, 2003 (12:00am) - Treasure is without a doubt one of the most respected developers in the video game world. Treasure has released numerous amounts of games that presented gamers with quality that not many others could deliver. When thinking of Treasure, games like Gunstar Heroes, Radiant Silvergun, and more recently, Ikaruga come to mind; each one of those games are spectacular in their own right, but they never really sold in vast amounts. As many of you already know, at last year’s E3 it was clearly revealed to the gaming public that Wario World for the GameCube was being developed by Treasure. But since then, Nintendo decided to stay on the DL, and disavow any knowledge of who is actually developing the game. Recently, Nintendo’s master game designer Shigeru Miyamoto (a.k.a.The Shigster) had spoken briefly about the game in an interview he conducted. No, he didn’t mention who the developer of the game is, but he what he did say was that the game is being developed by a second party that they have worked with in the past before. Nintendo has worked with Treasure in the past (Sin and Punishment for the Nintendo 64), and to what we’ve have read, Treasure IS the developer of Wario World so it’s an obvious assumption to believe that Nintendo has signed Treasure as a second party developer. Treasure’s first GameCube game will be a port of the Dreamcast’s Ikaruga, scheduled to hit retailers on April 15th.
