SOCOM: US Navy Seals tops 1 million in sales
March 8th, 2003 (12:00am) - SCEA announced today that sales of their flagship online title, SOCOM: US Navy Seals has passed the 1 million mark in sales. The game is a 3rd person action shooter along the lines of Rainbow 6 and Counter Strike, but with a higher emphasis on teamwork and action. The game retails for $59.99 in most places, as it is bundled with a headset used for voice communication with both online players and the CPU in the offline campaign.
They also released a few details about how popular the game is online. They say atleast 30% of the 1 million and growing userbase play the game online, equaling out to atleast 300,000 people. The game is yet to even see a release in other parts of the globe. Expect even more sales and online opponents when the game releases in Japan, Korea and Europe, which Sony plans to get done very soon. Reported by Andy Matheson on March 8th, 2003 (12:00am)
