March 8^th, 2003 (12:00am) - At the Game Developers Conference, which was held this weekend, Jaleco Entertainment announced a new project for all “next-generation” consoles. Jaleco’s new project is a game called Goblin Commander: Unleash the Horde, an action/real time strategy game (RTS). The game is expected to play very similar to games such as Warcraft and Diablo, since the development of the game is being lead by two people who have worked on those respective RTS franchises.

In Goblin Commander, Players are thrust into the land of Ogriss that is steeped in the middle of war. A world dominated by goblins created by the wizard Fraziel. Now fallen under a corrupt influence, the goblins threat the balance of power in the world. You will wage war as an army against the specialized goblin warriors and other fearsome monsters in order to prevent the destruction of Ogriss. This can’t be accomplished without traveling through dark subterranean caves, lush woodland cities and towering storm-swept castles along the way. Goblin Commander sets itself apart from other real-time strategy games by having fast arcade-style action. But it also excels in richly detailed and destructible environments, and an easy-to-master control scheme designed specifically for console game-pads.

"Goblin Commander offers plenty of fun fighting and destruction yet has enough thought provoking strategic and tactical elements to keep even the most hardcore RTS fan challenged and satisfied. It’s a perfect blend of brains and brawn."

Jaleco believes that Goblin Commander will mark a revolutionary step forward in home console gaming. Before each mission, players have the ability to choose a unique clan type, each having their own combat specialties. The addition of this strategy element should provide a compelling new challenge for each mission. Goblin Commander: Unleash The Horde is scheduled for release in the fourth quarter of 2003.
