March 10th, 2003 (12:00am) - Today Capcom unveiled its two newest, and possibly last, installments of the Onimusha series.
Onimusha 3
The first game revealed was Onimusha 3. Onimusha 3, shockingly, takes place in two different timelines, 1582 Japan and 2004 France. Yes, you read right, the game will take place in modern day France with cars, machine guns, and ancient Japanese samurai causing havoc at every street corner.
The Story:
The time 1582. There at the burning Honnonji Temple, the famous Onimusha warrior Akechi Samanosuke fights. His enemy is the Genma, no actually, his true enemy is the undying Oda Nobunanga, ever latching onto his crazed ambition. Samanosuke prepares for the long awaited final battle against Nobunanga.
The time is 2004. The peaceful French town is suddenly attacked by Genma. In the blink of an eye, the town is transformed into a nightmarish nest of Genma demons, who are slaughtering the people and soldiers one by one. However, within that nightmare, appears one man, a man who stands against the Genma. His name is Jacque Bran.
What fate awaits these two men?
What will be the final outcome of their stories?
The concluding chapter of the long and hard battle, has finally begun ---
Here are some more details:
-In Onimusha 3, Samanosuke returns, and this time he is accompanied by Jacque, who is modeled after real-life French actor, Jean Reno.
-The same people behind the stunning CG openings for both Onimusha 1 and 2 are back, with film star/choreographer Donnie Yen behind the fight scene action.
-Flagship is once again behind the storyline.
-The game will now have FULLY 3D BACKGROUNDS.
