Nintendo revives the Earthbound franchise on the Game Boy Advance!

April 15th, 2003 (12:00am) - Nintendo’s tripped out, yet classic franchise is being revived on the Game Boy Advance, Mother (a.k.a Earthbound stateside). How do you ask? Well, Nintendo has revealed that it will be porting the original Mother game, which appeared on the Famicom (NES), and Mother 2 (Earthbound), which originally appeared on the Super Famicom (Super Nintendo), to the Game Boy Advance on one cartridge and call the package Mother 1+2. The game, which is scheduled for release in Japan on June 20, will feature updated visuals for both titles and will retail for 4,800 yen.

Now, if Nintendo for some insane reason doesn’t release Mother 1+2 stateside...I will fly to Japan and murder Satoru Iwata myself.

If that isn’t enough for Earthbound fans, there are rumors floating around that a third installment of the Mother series is on its way. The platform it’s for hasn’t been mentioned, but the canned Nintendo 64 game Mother 3 would point to a GameCube version of the game. We can only hope…
