SNK opens up shop in the United States once again!

April 29th, 2003 (12:00am) - Three years ago SNK closed up its American division, forcing die hard SNK fans to import games in order to continue playing great SNK titles like King of Fighters 2001. However, the company wasn’t faring too well in Japan either, so SNK was completely bought by Playmore. Well, Playmore has opened an American division, appropriately named SNK NEOGEO USA Consumer Corp.

SNK NEOGEO USA Consumer Corp. has already been licensed by Nintendo to release games for the Game Boy Advance, such as Metal Slug and King of Fighters 2001. However, at the moment, they’re still considering whether to develop for the home consoles at the current time.

"Whether it’s the current generation (of consoles) that we develop for, or its new platforms in 2004 or 2005, we are going to develop for them." Says Ben Herman, head of Playmore’s American Devision.
