May 9^th, 2003 (12:00am) - Sega isn’t having any luck with merger talks it seems as it is now known that Namco has withdrawn their proposal for a merger. Sega was unable to give a specific answer thus prompting Namco is drop their merger offer.

This comes at virtually the same time that the Sega and Sammy talks fell through. Sega might have had time to think about Namco’s offer but it seems that Namco was not satisfied with the answers given to them by Sega up to this point.

Namco has not ruled out further talks but said it will not commence again until either Sega has made an offer or asks them to; currently Sega has no such plans. As it looks now, it appears Sega will still remain its own company and not merge with anyone. This could be a good time for other potential companies to open talks with Sega. Nothing of the sort has been confirmed yet but if any details emerge from this, we’ll cover it head-to-toe.
