Spin magazine honors Gitaroo Man
May 21st, 2003 (12:00am) - Prehaps only a few people may actually honestly say that theyve played KOEIs seemingly overlooked title Gitaroo Man, but those who have, still sing its praises. Since the games release, Gitaroo Man has received the
following accolades: -PSM Special Achievement Award for Most Bizarre Game -GMR Treasure Hunter Classic -Play Music/Rhythm 2002 Winner -GameNow Phil Theobald Picks Best Music Game -Spin Innovation Award for Music and Gaming -SCEA Publishers Choice Award Original Funk Nominee The first day of E3, KOEI was honored by Spin magazine with a shout-out to "All the Games that Rock," Spin magazine gave mad props to Gitaroo Man by honoring the title with the 2003 Innovation Award for Music and Gaming. Each of the Spin magazine award winners appears in the June 2003 issue, available on newsstands now. "KOEI has always been dedicated to the pursuit of games that achieve a playful balance between entertainment, technology, and art." said Amos Ip, Vice-President of Sales & Marketing at KOEI Corporation. "We are especially thrilled that Gitaroo Man was recognized by the music journalists at Spin magazine. The Innovation Award for Music and Gaming further signifies the embrace video games are receiving from other entertainment industries, and the growing acceptance of video games as a genuine medium for art and expression." Also of note, each year at E3, Sony Computer Entertainment America recognizes outstanding achievements in the creation of PlayStation®2 software titles with the Publishers Choice Awards. This year, Gitaroo Man was nominated in the award category for Original Funk.
