Nintendo’s Eiji Aonuma confirms sequel to The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker!
May 26th, 2003 (12:00am) - At E3 many GameCube fans were hoping to see a “real” sequel to The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, or even the far fetched dream of a mature looking Zelda. However, nothing of the sort ever came into fruition. Instead, fans got some crap like Tetra’s Quest and a deluxe version of The Four Swords. Sure, these games will deliver some fun gameplay, but milking the Zelda franchise in order to push this GCN/GBA connectivity nonsense is pure horse poo. Nintendo fans want a real Zelda game…
Eiji Aonuma, the director of the two Nintendo 64 Zelda games and The Wind Waker, recently sat down with Computer & Videogames and he has officially confirmed the development of a sequel to the Cel Shaded GameCube Zelda, and plans on having the title in playable form at next year’s E3. Now, that’s what we all wanted to hear. Aonuma: I am unable to give you any details right now. I am hoping to have a playable version ready by next years E3, so Im hoping youll be patient and look forward to that. As I did between Ocarina of Time and Majoras Mask, I will use the same engine and the same graphics of Wind Waker for its sequel. However, I do plan on powering everything up a bit.
