Nintendo to replace Mario and Pokemon as the company’s headliners!

May 29th, 2003 (12:00am) - Nintendo’s President, Satoru Iwata, has been determined to change the direction of Nintendo ever since he went into power more than a year ago. Every so often, Iwata-san clarifies on a few important topics and lately he spoke of Nintendo’s Online gaming views, the GameCube & Game Boy Advance’s “next generation” successor, and the future of the company as a whole.

On the topic of Online gaming, Iwata-san has said that he does not want gamers to pay additional fees to those when initially purchasing a game to play online.

Iwata-san also revealed some interesting tidbits about the successors of both Nintendo’s current home and handheld platforms. Nintendo is currently investing a large portion of the company’s 6 billion dollars on these “next-gen” platforms, and most shockingly of all, Nintendo is hard at work with characters that will replace Mario and Pokemon as the company’s headliners for these “next-gen” products.

In similar news, GameSpy tunnel has confirmed that you will be able to play LAN compatible GameCube games for free on their servers.
