Acclaim To Drop GameCube Support

June 23rd, 2003 (12:00am) - Due to lack of profits from GameCube titles, Acclaim will stop developing future projects for the Nintendo GameCube. However, games such as XGRA, Legend of Wrestling III, and Urban Freestyle Soccer will still be coming to the GameCube within the following year and the next.

There’s only one thing that bothers me… Acclaim’s performance in sales has been disappointing all around. Games like Turok Evolutions, BMX XXX, and Aggressive Inline have all failed to sell well on all gaming platforms. So why single out the GameCube? That is a question that can partially be answered…because GameCube owners tend to own the console for Nintendo games only (which have all proven to sell well – even Animal Crossing). However, even though many of Acclaim’s titles do…well… suck, games like Aggressive Inline and Criterion’s Burnout 2 are well worth a gamer’s money.
