Acclaim makes deal with Vodafone for mobile gaming

July 29th, 2003 (12:00am) - Acclaim today has announced that their deal with Vodafone is set. This agreement will help trendsend the finer points of mobile gaming. The Vodafone countries will be able to offer mobile game content through Vodafone live! in which is based on Acclaim’s up in coming video game, Urban Freestyle Soccer video game. This game will be set for Xbox, PS2, Gamecube, and PC of Q4 2003 in October.

For those who don’t know what Vodafone is, it’s a company based voice communication service that allows users to be provided with mobile communication. They are partnered with different companies and are in 28 different countries.


This game is developed to support a range of Vodafone live! handsets... Sharp GX10, Sharp GX10i, Sharp GX20, Nokia 7650 and Nokia 3650..."
"This is the very first time that Acclaim have distributed their gaming content via a mobile phone network and also the first time that a version of a video game has ever been available on a mobile phone prior to the retail release," said Larry Sparks, VP Marketing International for Acclaim Entertainment. "I am thrilled to be working with Vodafone as our exclusive mobile partner on Urban Freestyle Soccer and I am confident there is huge potential in this venture for both partners."

Urban Freestyle soccer is showcased as the first ever street style soccer gameplay game. It will be sold in 12 different countries such as Europe, Japan and USA. Battling different gang rivals, handling ball skills that’ll leave gamers in a clean crisp shock. They also have a wide variety of characters as the game progresses and also a variety of performing tricks.

"The exclusive agreement with Acclaim to offer Urban Freestyle Soccer to Vodafone live! customers, before it is available on the high street, is yet another first in mobile gaming and clearly demonstrates Vodafone’s commitment to providing its customers with the best mobile gaming experience available today," said Guy Laurence, CEO at Vodafone Global Content Services.
