Remember Nintendo’s Fear?
August 14th, 2003 (12:00am) - Months ago, weeks before E3, rumors came afloat about all these unannounced and top secret GameCube games in development. At that time, back in May, we brought readers news about a game by the name of Game Zero, developed by ex-Rare employee founded development studio Zoonami, and another game by the name of Fear. Initial rumors suggested that Fear was being developed by none other than Nintendo’s own Shigeru Miyamoto. Fear was supposedly a game where you played as a young boy who most overcome his fears. Well, Fear did make an appearance at E3, but Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto has nothing to do with the development of the title, and the game is sure as hell not about a boy who must overcome his fears. Fear was actually the original title of the GameCube’s First Person Adventure Geist, developed by n-Space.
“Geist leads players through the game in a first-person perspective, providing the unique ability to possess other characters in the game. As a ghost or Geist, players can advance through the game by virtually entering the bodies of other characters, taking advantage of their physical and mental abilities. Combining a mixture of action and stealth styles of game play, Geist adds an enthralling new twist to the first-person genre.”
