More on the HAL Labs Situation

August 20th, 2003 (12:00am) - According to the latest issue of Nintendo Dream, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has made an attempt to mend the differences between Nintendo and former HAL Labs producer Masahiro Sakurai.

As we all know, Sakurai-san announced his departure from HAL Labs earlier this month after some trouble over game development at HAL Labs, quite possibly over the development of the GameCube racer Kirby’s Air Ride. Since then Iwata-san has helped HAL Labs get things together by putting the studio through a major restructuring effort. Iwata has even gone as far as meeting Sakurai-san several times in order to keep a future relationship. However, these meetings have failed to a certain extent, since Masahiro will not be returning to HAL or Nintendo.

Will the head honcho behind the Super Smash Bros. franchise continue to develop games for Nintendo platforms?
