NPD Software Sales for August 2003

September 17th, 2003 (12:00am) - The country’s got Madden fever!

With the debut of Madden NFL 2004 in the month of August, Electronic Arts has once again struck gold with their infamous franchise. On the PlayStation 2 alone, Madden sold approximately 1.5 million units, while performing relatively well on the Xbox, yet poorly on the GameCube (compared to the game’s sales on the other platforms). On Madden’s tail is Namco’s highly anticipated sequel to the Dreamcast hit Soul Calibur…Soul Calibur II. While Soul Calibur II performed excellently on all three platforms, the GameCube version of the game sold best and I think it’s safe to say that a Hylian named Link had a little something to do with it.
