THQ Starts Work on Next-Gen Systems
October 20th, 2003 (12:00am) - Brian Farrell, president and CEO of THQ Inc., said today that the company has started development work on the next generation of game consoles.
Brian Farrell on a conference call with analysts to discuss quarterly results said THQs Rainbow and Volition studios were looking ahead to Microsoft Corp.s next version of the Xbox and Sonys next-generation PlayStation with some early research efforts. "We still believe that the next generation will launch in 2006. Thats our best guess as of todays date," Farrell said. "But were certainly preparing in the event that there is a 2005 launch." "We expect to start getting some emulators within the next 30 to 45 days," he said. Boosted by the solid performance of its new WWE games and Game Boy Advance titles, THQ announced that its financial results for the second quarter of fiscal 2004 exceeded the companys previous guidance.
