Tapwave Licenses Fathammer’s X-Forge 3D Game Development Kit As Preferred Game Development Tools for the Tapwave Zodiac Platform
November 20th, 2003 (12:00am) - Fathammer, a leading developer of advanced real-time 3D graphics and game technologies for next generation mobile devices, is proud to announce that its X-Forge 3D Development Kit has been licensed by Tapwave™ as the preferred game development tool set for Tapwave’s much anticipated Zodiac™ mobile gaming console. The Zodiac, which debuted in May of this year to much acclaim, addresses the on-the-go lifestyle needs of technology enthusiasts, providing them fun and function in a sleek, handheld device. "Weve been pushing the Palm OS platform and waiting a long time for a high-end gaming device like the Tapwave product. It is a pleasure to work with the X-Forge 3D Game Engine/Zodiac combo." Kyle Poole, President, Crimson Fire Entertainment. Through a licensing agreement between Tapwave and Fathammer (specifics of contract not public), Tapwave is offering their developers the base edition of the X-Forge’s suite of APIs and tools, which assist in the creation of high-quality 3D games for mobile devices. Some of the key benefits developers will find using the X-Forge engine are ease-of-use, high performance and the ability to cut development time by up to 50 percent. X-Forge is the most comprehensive and powerful 3D mobile game development kit in the market. While other products focus on simple 3D applications or only portions of the game development effort, X-Forge has been built with a singular focus on professional game development. X-Forge’s features include: Easy to use and powerful APIs and tools for game development Reduced development time Leading edge 3D game technology and performance Optimized for Tapwave Zodiac hardware Cross-platform support for rapid development on other mobile devices “Two key problems that plague game developers today are projects that run past deadline and over budget,” said Brian Bruning, CEO of Fathammer. “The X-Forge helps solve those problems by providing tools that speed development of 3D mobile games. In fact, numerous games are already being developed for Tapwave’s Zodiac using the X-Forge engine. By operating across multiple mobile platforms, the X-Forge kit provides a sense of focus in the mobile device marketplace that is just a jumble of new technologies. In addition, configurations of mobile devices change rapidly, making it even harder for developers to keep up. The X-Forge helps address these issues. It’s a perfect fit for the marketplace, as well as for the Tapwave Zodiac.” Those key benefits are what attracted Tapwave to license the X-Forge, according to Peng Lim, co-founder and CEO of Tapwave. “Every developer wants to save time and money, but invariably they always wind up sacrificing performance to do it,” said Lim. “The X-Forge 3D Development Kit maintains the highest level of performance, allowing developers to get it all – faster game development, lower costs and high performance. Our developers are already using X-Forge, and happy to be doing so.” Professional game developers should contact Tapwave or Fathammer for access to the full version of X-Forge at a discounted license fee.
